FAQs

What is preserved living moss?

Preserved moss is natural moss that has been carefully preserved for decorative purposes through an eco-friendly process. Apart from adding a pop of green to the décor, it enhances the liveliness of the ambience with its intense natural energy.

We call it sometimes called “Living Moss” because it was preserved in that state but the moss is no longer a living organism that will grow.

What kind of moss do you use?

A lot of the portraits contain Reindeer moss which is really a lichen: a combination of a fungus and algae that have a symbiotic relationship and form a new plant. The moss is spongy when moist, but dries out when removed from its natural habitat. Preserving the moss keeps it from disintegrating and helps it retain its natural beauty and feel.

Do I have to maintain preserved moss?

Preserved moss is low maintenance and does not need watering and will not grow. A light spray will help with any dust build up.

We do recommend avoiding direct sunlight to reduce the risk of fading. Our art is best suited for indoors.

What is the difference between dried moss and preserved moss?

Preserved moss is not the same as dried moss. Dried moss is simply living moss with the water content reduced. Some of our art pieces contain a combination of preserved and dried moss.

Dried moss is often dormant and by adding water the moss can come back to life. This is not recommended for our portraits as it may damage the some of the other elements in the portrait.

Are the succulents Live?

The succulents featured in the portraits on the site are not live, they are faux plants in order to remain “no-maintenance”. Since they are faux, direct sunlight may cause them to fade.

Do you make any portraits with live succulents?

Yes, this is called a Living Portrait and is considered a custom comission piece. We will provide a quote based on your requirements and provide a timeframe for creation.

Note: The care instructions and the moss types and succulents options will vary based on the proposed size and location for the piece.

What does Wealth ‘n Hellness mean?

Our brand name started as play on words for Health and Wellness. Essentially it means finding the good in the bad. The Covid pandemic has been a form of Hell for many but the Wealth we can focus on in all of this is the creativity and innovation that has emerged in the form of new small businesses, innovations in how we work and all of the new and sometimes weird hobbies people have picked up during quarantine.

Designing these portraits have definitely been a source of wealth for me in the form of coping with quarantine and providing a creative outlet during a very volatile and stressful global pandemic.
