The Pursuit of Health and Wellness in 2020

…actually lead to the development of the Wealth ‘n Hellness brand.

The Covid Pandemic forced me to work from my home for practically all of 2020 which led to the daily inspection of my home décor and a longing for the outside world. Outside for a period of time in 2020 was mainly our rooftop for which I will forever be grateful. I realized that we never actually did anything more than throw a few pieces of patio furniture up there. It was a blank canvas of huge white walls surrounding a warm teak upper deck that we had done little to enhance beyond a lonely strawberry plant for my daughter.

The naked rooftop that started it all

So I started researching ways to bring life and greenery to the space. I was captivated by the idea of a full living wall of plants and went deep down the research rabbit hole of how to make that happen. Turns out it is very expensive per square foot to correctly build the vertical garden, irrigate and keep the living wall, well, living. Net net our walls were bigger than our budget so I had to level set my expectations. We went with tall bamboo trees and lots of flowery window boxes on the the walls.

BUT, all of that research did lead me to discover this amazing craft called “living art” featuring such a thing as preserved living moss that doesn’t require watering, or pruning or direct sunlight to bring a lush living feel to a room. And here we are. My maintenance free version of creating a lush, living indoor space.
